CHANGES TO SERVICES FOR CHILDREN & YOUNG PEOPLE WITH SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL NEEDS (SEN)
& ENTITLEMENT TO A PARENT CARERS ASSESSMENT

The Children and Families Act 2014 introduces changes to how services for children and young people who have SEN will be agreed and delivered. St Helens Council has prepared a "local offer" detailing services to support children and young people with SEN and their families. Additionally, EHC (Educational Health and Care Plans) will replace Statements of SEN and Learning Difficulty Assessments. All families whose child has an EHC plan will have the right to request a personal budget from St Helens Council Children & Young People's Service. The personal budget will allow young people or parents to buy support identified in the plan directly.

You may also be entitled to a Parent Carer Assessment - details on the St Helens Council website below. Or Ring Children & Young People's Service on 01744 676600.
